Two wks ago I decided to take a very last minute trip to Florida to see my sister and her family and some fabulous friends that live out there. I have been aching to go back for 6 yrs now & decided I better do it now because Gavin won't be flying for free next year. So we bought a ticket early one Saturday morning and were on the airplane the very next afternoon. I was going crazy trying to pack that quickly and making myself absolutely sick thinking about the long flight I was about to make with Gavin ALONE! I was seriously terrified. Oh my goodness, Gavin did great! I couldn't believe it! It was so nice to hear people commenting on how well behaved my child was.
So the flights went really well and we finally arrived into Pensacola around 9pm. I was so excited I could hardly stand it! We had such a fun time there with everyone. We did the whole beach thing a bunch of times. Although it's not so relaxing anymore with a couple of toddlers in tow. Gavin took a while to warm up to the sand, he really was not a fan. He finally did at least tolerate the sand though and would play in it for small amounts of time. Although when it somehow landed on him without his permission it was over, he was peeved! He did enjoy the water right away though. He thought it was funny to watch it come up and touch his feet. The anticipation seemed like it was killing him at times. We has some fun finding little fish and playing in the waves with Gavin was so much fun.
We took the kids to a Naval Aviation Museum which Gavin really enjoyed. Gavin has always really been into fans for some reason and so with all those propellers around looking very similar to giant fans, Gavin was in heaven. Pointing at everyone screaming "an, an!" (for fan) and then proceeding to beg me to turn them on. Thankfully there was one the was slowly turning and so we stood there marveling at that one "fan" for what seemed like forever.
We also tried at a zoo that was somewhat close to my sister's house. Not the best zoo I've been too, but the kids seemed to enjoy it. Gavin really like the alligators, bears, and the smaller of the big cats. Probably because they looked the most like a regular house cat.
Anyways, so we had lots of fun. Here are a few pictures. There are more on my sister's camera which I don't have yet, but I'm sure I'll will post some of those when I get them. I remember there being some cute pictures. Enjoy.
One of the moments Gavin didn't mind touching the sand...
Obviously since he is covered in it. Which sand is seriously a pain to try and clean off. It's kind of like glitter. No matter how many times you wash, or how hard you wash, you will be finding sand on your body for days. It just sticks to you and is EVERYWHERE!
The boardwalk
Taking a walk on the beach one evening. It was beautiful!

Gavin cuddling with Paige; The alligators at the zoo; Gavin & V playing a duet for us on the piano. That was one of Gavin's favorite things to do. It's so cute watching him play on the piano. He's not too bad either; And then of course Gavin giving V some love. These two are the best of friends. So cute together!

Lounging at the beach. Each picture is a different day at the beach. Gavin's usually in a chair because he doesn't enjoy the feeling of sand in between his toes.

One night we went to the dog races. It was pretty excited surprisingly, but I still feel bad for those dogs. A couple wiped out during a race and I just wanted to run over and pet them. Gavin would say "uh oh" when he'd see a dog fall. It was pretty darn cute. But the tractor smoothing out the race track was the highlight for Gavin. And then that is us sitting in some of the planes at the aviation museum. It was pretty cool.
Having some fun in the waves. I was surprised at how much Gavin enjoyed the waves. I thought that he would get scared. Nope, he's turning into a tough little toddler. But he still has his moments of weakness. :) Like say when Mom can't be found.
I had a blast playing with Gavin! He is so much fun and has such a fun personality. He's such a goof (kind of like his dad). I wish Matt would've come and played with us, but he had to travel for work. Thank you Matt for working so hard so that I can play so hard. You're the best! :)
