I will not be touching this plant other than to pick the oranges & even then I might make Matt do it. I seem to kill any plant that I come in contact with so this little addition to our family is Matt's job. I believe he has even named the tree...Willie, I think, but I can't really remember.
He (I was thrilled to! I love plants even though I can't seem to take care of them) was so excited about buying this tree that he started digging as soon as we got home. I'm pretty sure that our neighbors thought we were up to no good. Some pretty wild stuff goes on in this city.
But our show "The Office" was starting so Matt had to finish his hole digging the next day. Gavin kept wanting to get in the hole, but then would panic a little bit & want out. Everything Matt was doing Gavin wanted to try. He kept wanting to use the shovel, but that only ended up in tears b/c he's not quite big enough to really handle it.
So, I turned on the hose & we had some fun while Matt continued working. He did stop to take some pictures though! I think I'm turning Matt into a camera fanatic!
He was LOVIN' it!!!

Good Luck with the Orange tree. That's such a good idea. We have had pretty good luck with the things we've planted in our "yard". Glad you found something to entertain Gavin this summer. It's going to be here before we know it. He's such a cute kid!!!
He is so cute!!
I'm the same way with plants, I even killed a cactus once. I got a cactus plant because I knew they were hard to kill. . . well I managed to find a way. So sad. :(
Good luck with your orange tree!
Very Nice, you'll have to send Matt our way to help with some planting that we need to do. I just can't get Mike motivated.
I've heard of lemon trees surviving here but not an orange but it probably would. I think they just need to be on the south side and protected in case it freezes. We have people that get loads of lemons off their lemon tree. Just baby it and looks like you dug a good deep and wide hole. Good job Matt. I'm proud of you! I am sending you a site to look at. And check the blog. I'm going to update. Jas is really into the sq. foot gardening. I can't believe how utterly darling Gavin is. Wow! he is a poster child! So darn cute. I need to see him soon. hmmmmmm
An orange tree huh? Wow, I hope it works. I have a little grapefruit tree in my window sill. It came from a seed that I found in a grapefruit I was eating that had a little sprout starting on it. Cool huh? I do not know if it will get any fruit on it but it is cute. But not as cute as that GAVIN!!! He is growing tooooo fast!!!!!
