One more ...

For some reason I couldn't get this picture to post with the others...oh well, so here is another collage.

Brian Head, UT

Last week some of my family came into town & then we all piled into one van and headed up to Brian Head, UT. All of us new it would be cold, especially compared to what we were used to, but I'm still not quite sure we were prepared for it. All of us came from such warm states & were welcoming great spring weather...UT, yep they are still welcoming their winter weather. At least that part of UT anyways. But we still had fun. There were a few times we'd get all bundled up (which took an hour) and the second we would open the door to go outside Gavin would almost shriek because of how cold it was & instantly be looking for reasons to get back inside. I couldn't blame him, there were times where I was way to cold and just wanted to snuggle on the couch with my hot chocolate...right by the fire. We are definitely raising a warm weather boy!

We did some hiking, snow shoeing (which was my favorite), and we did a ton of swimming. It was all good fun, but I am happy to be in nicer weather again. Here are a few pictures from our adventures. Enjoy.

The Latest...

Lately I have been drawing blanks on what to blog about, not that much isn't going on because with a 2 yr old there is always something new and exciting, it is just the day to day stuff though (which I still love) but I suppose that I have been a horrible photographer lately and I haven't been documenting anything. Sad, I know...and it is so not like me! I figured I better come up with something though. Let's see...
Gavin is a riot! He keeps us laughing that's for sure. A cringe here and there, but what a good boy he is. And I'm pretty sure he thinks he pretty darn hilarious since he laughs at all his own jokes ... kind of like his dad (HA!).
These days Gavin is really into rhyming. A little while back he was having one of those moments of pure sadness & I was trying anything and everything to calm him down, so I just started rhyming. For some reason he thought it was hilarious and we've been doing it since. It always gets at least a big smile if not a laugh. But now Gavin is the rhymer. It's hilarious! Not that he is always saying "real" words, but at least they rhyme. He enjoys doing soup, which always follows with poop, foop, doop, loop ... that kind of stuff. He's getting really good at it too!
Matt & I have ALWAYS strayed from rhyming two of his very favorite things, duck & truck. Since Gavin just kind of goes through the alphabet saying words we figured it would be best to not encourage that particular rhyme. Oh, but good ol' Gavin figured it out on his own. So needless to say the past few days my precious little boy has been dropping the f-bomb. Not that he's ever heard it from our mouths! NOPE! But he is just rhyming and the letter "f" is part of the alphabet, so sadly it is being used. So, that is something fun & new around our house.
But besides his potty mouth, he is such a good little talker. It's a lot of fun because you can totally understand him and have full on conversations. It's crazy. I can't believe how big he is getting! I love it when he learns something new and then plugs it into his sentences the next day. Now he is always saying "it's super fun" or "peace out dude", those are 2 favorites. He learned "excavator" the other day... what else (sorry for this list, but this will be fun for us to remember)

  • hippopotamus
  • scriptures
  • dump truck
  • airport
  • ambulance
  • see you later dude
  • come follow me
  • see you later alligator (that one is so fun)
  • where are my friends?
  • oh man ... I'm stuck ... help me (those few usually go together)
  • shoot!
  • don't leave me
  • take a picture
  • hiking
  • mountain

Really, he says (or attempts) just about anything you throw at him. He's one funny character. He's huge into reading books and singing songs. If I happen to interrupt him while he is singing a song I get scolded. His favorites are the ABC's, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, & I Am a Child of God. Like I said he definitely keeps us laughing and smiling and there really isn't ever a dull moment.

I suppose I will post some pictures that we took yesterday. We went up to Mt. Charleston and hiked around. We didn't get to do the hike that we were intentionally going to do because there was so much snow on it. Who knew? But the hike we were able to do was still really fun & just gorgeous.

The End.

Our New Years

So, this is super late, but it seems as though we've been pretty busy around here. Of course there has been the traveling because it doesn't seem that Matt or I can sit put for to long. Although Matt's travels are mainly business & mine are always pleasure, but still. I suppose we have quite a bit to write about, not sure I'll get it all on here any time soon, but I'll try.
We had a really fun New Years. My sister Paige & her family came into town & instead of even entertaining the thought of going down the crazy strip this year we decided to head over to Lake Las Vegas. I had never been so I was pretty excited. We got a room for all of us to share & had a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures of our fun time.

Here is Gavin with his beautiful cousin, Valentina. They were getting thrown around like crazy & having a great time! They were hilarious.

Gavin is just about to get taken out by this pillow. Gavin & V had their first pillow fight. Although I'm pretty sure we were all tougher on the little man. He loved it though.

The AWESOME fireworks...that only Paige & I were able to stay up for.

The next morning getting ready to relax in the hot tub.

Gavin enjoying his gelato even though it was definitely NOT warm outside.

The 3 of us. :)
